Sukiyaki Christmas

Hi everyone. Sorry for the lack of posts...but we're back from the holidays now and ready to put up some updates!

We celebrated Christmas at Obaasan's and Ojiisan's in the O.C. this year.

Yep, like the title says -- we had sukiyaki for Christmas Dinner. Why? Because one turkey a year is enough!

After dinner we played Cousin Juliana's and Cousin Mia's Christmas Present -- Mario Kart -- to help us digest. At least we tried to -- Uncle Paul is a Wii Hog! Remind me not to let him borrow the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Making Friends...or Fiends?

Our friends Pete and Amy came by earlier this week. This is Hannah's first celebrity meeting. As you can tell, she was starstruck!

Hannah is such a Big Bunny fangirl. She's their biggest -- and smallest -- fan!

Holidays in the Valley

Even though Mommy and I thought we would be taking one of those family photos in front of our Christmas tree, the reality is our apartment is so small that cramming a tree in it seems impractical. But Hannah should know what the Christmas spirit is all about, right? So instead of bringing a tree to Hannah, I decided to bring Hannah to the tree.

We live near the Sherman Oaks Galleria, which has quickly become our favorite walk.

Another holiday tradition? Getting all the specialty coffees at Starbucks! I normally don't drink coffee from this place much at all, but I am a total sucker for those rare Starbucks coffees that they only serve two months of the year, namely the Peppermint Mocha and Gingerbread Latte. I get as excited for these as much as some people do for the McRib sandwich. I have no idea who these people are, but apparently some people like it if they keep bringing it back! Hannah is looking forward to the day she can have one too.

Another cool thing about this walk is we get to see our good friend Kevin. He is currently working at the Galleria and has been playing a big part in Hannah's development. Not only has he offered a ton of hand-me-downs, he also recommended our current pediatrician who we absolutely love! Thanks Kev!

Margot's Pimpin' First Birthday Partay!

Over the weekend we attended Margot's Birthday Bash!

There must have been at least a hundred people there! Who knew Margot could make so many friends in the first year of life?
Luckily there were a ton of kids there. Hannah made a lot of friends that day as wel. This party was off da' hook!

Maybe too off the hook...
Hannah..already breaking the boys' hearts!

Our Thanksgiving Weekend

We spent Thanksgiving Dinner eating Chicken McNuggets and Cheeseburgers. Yep, you read that right! We have some doctors in the family and they do not usually get Thanksgiving day off, so we wanted to save our appetite for the following day's dinner, and McDonalds is the only place we knew would be open. Plus, we are really lazy.

Our official dinner. Kampai! Can you find all three kids in this picture?

Help! Our family is being overrun by girls!

On Sat, we spent the day with Mom's family. But instead of a Thanksgiving celebration, it was a birthday one. Nate, our cousin's boy, turned 7. It was great to catch up with family...most of whom we haven't seen in a year!

Hannah was asleep for most of this celebration. We should take her to more parties!

Tummy Time!

Hannah is able to lift her head! That was fast -- it's only been 10 weeks! Now if she could only progress as quickly in the sleep department...

Cousins Drop By!

Captains log: week 11. Hannah's cousins, Juliana and Mia, came by earlier in the week. They also let Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Paul tag along!

Hannah also graduated from Newborn Diapers to Size One Diapers. And she laughed for the first time!

2 Month Progress Report

How's Hannah doing? Watch the movie to find out!

She's focussing on objects very well and she's improving her hand-eye coordination daily. We'll be playing LittleBigPlanet together in no time!

Also, we went to the pediatrician on Friday. She rolled over for her doctor....twice! When is she gonna do that for us??!!

And for those who are curious, she's now 9 lbs, 12 oz and is 22 inches tall. Her weight and height are in the 25th percentile. Her head is a little small though -- she's in the 5th percentile there.

Cradle Cap....Pwned!

Yeah, Hannah has a cradle cap problem (see earlier post). Fortunately we have it under control -- for now. Her face rash is improving too. Thanks Aquafor!

We Voted!

I'm not sure who Hannah voted for but I'm guessing the Hockey Mom. Yeesh!

Does anyone know how long it takes to drive to Nebraska?

Hannah's Halloween

Hannah celebrated her first Halloween this year! She got to show off some of her nifty outfits. Check them out:

As for the festivities, we eased her into Halloween by taking it really slow this year. First we took a walk around the neighborhood and saw all the decorated houses on the adjacent two blocks. Next we went home and put Hannah in her real costume: A cocoon! Actually I think she looks more like a human battery from the Matrix but the transitional phase of a flying insect works too.
Happy Halloween!

Gratuitous Near-Smiling Pics

That's right...it's our blog and we'll post what we want!!!!

Oh Noes! Cradle Cap Rears Its Ugly Head...

Hannah has developed cradle cap. Either that or it's snowing in the San Fernando Valley. We washed it off and it really isn't too big a deal, but hopefully it won't continue.

First Family Dinner Outing

Everyone who knows us knows how much we love food. So it's been torture to not be able to dine out, especially for Christine, who hasn't eaten out in over a month! However, a couple days ago we decided to brave the scary, germ-infested world to go to our favorite Mexican Restaurant in the Valley: El Rancho! Luckily it's only a couple blocks away. Carnitas Burritos never tasted so good! And fortunately the restaurant was full of moms who were completely understanding when Hannah started crying towards the end. All things considered, it was a total success. Next stop: Daichan!

Oh Thank Heavens!

Hannah started smiling this week! Thankyouthankyouthankyou! We don't care if it's gas..we'll take it!

By the way, Hannah is 5 weeks old today! She now weighs 7 lbs, 15 oz. We also learned that she's in the bottom 25 percentile in terms of height -- just like Mommy!

Sssshhhh...Nap Time...

This is how we usually spend Wednesday afternoons. Is there any better way?

4 Weeks Old!

Hannah is 4 weeks old today! What a perfect excuse to come up with a time capsule! In her 28 days here on earth she already has some favorites. And by favorites I mean stuff that doesn't make her cry. Here they are:

Favorite Song: "Sellotape" by Flight of the Conchords
Favorite Book: "Daddy's Kisses" by Anne Gutman and George Hallensleben
Favorite Sleeping Spot: On the My Brest Friend.
Favorite Breast: The left one
Favorite Sound: The rain sound from the Sleep Sheep. The one that sounds like sizzling bacon. That's Daddy's favorite sound as well.
Favorite Burping Position: Over the Shoulder, although two weeks ago it was the Cedars' Stanglehold
Favorite Drink: Rasberry Mojitos. She likes the sweet drinks.
Favorite Activity: Being bounced on the Yoga Ball

We'll check back in a month to see if her tastes have changed. Stay tuned!

Another Bailout

Daddy has started his 90 hr week crunch schedule at work, meaning he comes home late every work day. And for three days a week he comes home 12 am or later (hence the drop in posts). So Mom has no breaks whatsoever! Luckily Grandma was able to come by and help out Christine Monday night. Hannah and Grandma had some nice bonding time, so hopefully this will become a weekly thing until Dad's crunch ends in late Nov. Thanks Grandma for bailing us out!

Also, we've started giving Hannah the bottle for one meal every two days. Yep, mom has started pumping. Hannah loves the breast a little too much, and she often just hangs out there, using mom as a pacifier. And she just falls asleep there too, almost every time. This has totally been tying mom down! Pretty soon Mom's legs will start to wither away from atrophy, like the earthlings from Wall-E. As a result, we introduced bottle feeding -- and Hannah did not miss a beat! So hopefully when mom goes back to work in Dec. it'll be a smooth transition for everyone.

Another cool thing that happened this week: Hannah's Social Security Card came in the mail! She's now able to work -- sweeeet! With our retirement accounts going down the tubes, we can sure use the extra income. Our family will be recovering from the recession in no time!

Hannah Meets More Anties, Uncles and Cousins

This past week Hannah finally met the rest of our family: Auntie Vanessa, Uncle Pat, Cousin Jude and Auntie Lisa. Cute!
